The Expedition isn't designed around telling players exactly what should happen. Instead, its systems create opportunities for stories to happen naturally.
No two expeditions need to end the same way
Independent worlds. Unexpected adventures. Memorable moments. We build focused worlds filled with systems that interact, situations that surprise, and stories that emerge from how you play.
Orion Game Studio is driven by a team with experience across game development, creative production, technology and business. Rather than chasing scale for the sake of scale, we ask one question of everything we build: is it fun?
A beautiful world means little if exploring it isn't fun. Mechanics always come first.
Physics, environments, characters and systems interact in ways that create unexpected moments.
We love games where cooperation creates both brilliant teamwork and complete chaos.
Our games should be recognizable from a single screenshot.
We prototype, test, break things, rebuild them, and keep what makes the game better.
"The journey was planned. Everything else wasn't."
You and your expedition team have one objective: keep moving forward. Explore dangerous environments, overcome natural obstacles, manage limited resources and work together to survive — because the smallest mistake can turn into a disaster.
But survival isn't only about reaching the destination. It's about what happens along the way.
Cross forests, mountains and hostile environments while dealing with unpredictable terrain, changing conditions and the consequences of your team's decisions. Sometimes your teammate saves you. Sometimes your teammate is the reason you need saving.
Travel through environments filled with obstacles, hidden routes, resources and unexpected discoveries. Finding the safest route isn't always the fastest way forward.
Climb, jump, balance and navigate difficult terrain while your character reacts dynamically to the environment and their physical condition.
Going alone is dangerous. Help injured teammates, share resources, overcome obstacles together and rescue one another when an expedition goes wrong.
Weather, environmental hazards and changing conditions can transform a simple journey into a survival situation. Adapt — or turn back.
Damage isn't simply a number. A damaged leg may change your movement, while more serious injuries force your team to adapt and assist one another.
What you carry matters. Discover supplies throughout the expedition and decide when they're worth using — that item you saved for later might keep the team alive.

No two expeditions need to end the same way
The visual direction of The Expedition combines a stylized Chibli look with atmospheric lighting, vegetation, weather and environmental effects. The environments may look charming from a distance. Getting through them is another matter.
At Orion, we don't believe depth requires hundreds of complicated systems. Instead, we build mechanics that interact — and each system influences another.
The result is gameplay where players constantly make small decisions — and those decisions can create completely unexpected situations. That's where we believe memorable games are born.
"The journey should always be fun."
